| ALIBABA - CONJURING
UP EASTERN MAGIC |
|
If you've had your fair share of Vietnamese cuisine and your taste
buds are getting itchy feet, don't worry. Head to Alibaba
restaurant instead and instantly transport yourself to India. Like
Indian restaurants the world over, what Alibaba lacks in ambience,
it makes up for with an extensive and good-value menu. Starters
include decent chicken and vegetable samosas, and for main
courses, there's an usual fare such as Chicken Tikka. However at
Alibaba's, the Tikka portions are generous, the meat tender and
the sauce mild, catering to Western tastes. The Malay Kotta is
unusually different, though still delicious, as too is the
surprisingly flavoursome egg curry. Rice dishes and naan breads,
ordered separately off the menu accompany meals, and drinks
include Indian specialties such as lassi. The service at Alibaba
is discreet and unobstrusively attentive, a welcome break for
diners. The cost of meals range from around VND 25,000 to VND
70,000. |
