Dining at The Grill, there's an air of no-nonsense informality.
Not only in the restaurant itself, but also in the wonderful range
of international cuisine. Might have known there's an Austalian
behind all this. Executive chef Jon Bourbaud brings to The Grill a
veritable global flavour. Originating from Australia, he's spent
the last 15 years in such destinations as France, Japan and
London, preparing dishes for Princess Diana, Liza Minelli and
Frank Sinatra, to name just a few.So it's no surprise with all
these years of globe-trotting, that the Grill's signature dishes
take inspiration from the world over and East meets West in a
fusion of textures and tastes. The freshest produce and herbs are
of course utilised; some even flourish on the hotel's roof terrace
garden!
From the innovative array of Pacific Rim dishes on the a la
carte menu, the tantalizing home-smoked baby chicken on rocket and
Parmesan salad, served with a taste bud tingling chilli and ginger
jam is hard to beat. There's a special grill selection, including
(not surprisingly) BBQ Australian tenderloin with olive pesto.
Spoilt for choice, the extensive buffet range features traditional
local foods and specialties, such as Tamarind Crab or Vietnamese
beef "Luk Lak," as well as the carvery, Sunday brunch,
western grill and seafood buffet.
It's good to see the diverse cuisine mirrors an eclectic bunch
of clientele: families, business people, tourists and ex-pats.
